About Our Team
God has assembled and continues to grow an extraordinarily capable team of men and women to embrace and move forward the process of bringing God’s vision for Exodus Projects from an intriguing idea to a thriving and impactful reality. We are thrilled to be a part of this amazing group of people and are profoundly grateful for each on of them.
Topista Apiyo
Topista is our supervisor of women. She is an incredibly capable individual, a single mom, and carrying the “mom” role in the lives of everyone who lives within her sphere of influence. We got to know Topista when she served at Restoration Gateway Dental clinic as a dental assistant. She loves Jesus and has provided strong and stabilizing leadership to our women and to our entire team.
Tracy
Tracy lives with her grandmother in the village of Karuma. Tracy brings an infectious enthusiasm to the team and because she is a quick learner brings a valuable strength to the team.
Jabasco Otim
Jabasco is the Mzeh (respected elder) of our team. Is our lead supervisor and has been with us from the beginning. He even helped us with the initial purchase of land when before we actually began. Jabasco is also a respected member of the Karuma community and has considerable expertise and experience in carpentry and construction. We are grateful for the strength Jabasco has brought to our team and for the help he has contributed to the development of the Exodus Project.
Jasper Okello
Jasper is one of our first team members, who helped us with our first two projects: hand-drilling a 45’ deep bore hole, and carving a driveway through the bush into the main part of the Exodus property. Jasper is solidly grounded in the truth of Scripture, and has an exceptionally humble servant heart. His gentleness and calm spirit brings great strength and stability to our team.
Grace
Grace came to Exodus more than a year ago. She is a precious mother of two now. Her daughter Rita is 7 years old and she gave birth to her son Joshua on March 9, 2020. Grace is making great strides in her learning of English, even memorizing some Bible verses in it! Among many skills she brings to the Exodus team, she has been a great help to Topista in meal preparation, gardening, and up-keeping the grounds.
Joyce Alice
Alice is also a single mother who has been doing a remarkable job of providing for her young son, Joel. Alice is a strong and capable woman with a willing and joyful heart. She brings a strong motherly wisdom to our team.
Solumé
Solumé brings a resilience and depth of wisdom to the team, born out of strong perseverance through many of the kinds of challenges that these women face. Her strength of character equips her for a greater role of leadership as she continues to develop the knowledge and skills she has acquired through her involvement in the Exodus Project team.
Dennish Opiyo
Dennish is a talented, experienced and knowledgable craftsman who has expertise in various of the aspects of construction. He is serves as our construction supervisor and primary construction teacher. Dennish is strongly committed to the vision of Exodus Projects and has served sacrificially in many vital ways. The progress that’s been made in the development of the Exodus Project is due in large measure to Dennish’s capable leadership.
Joshua Geoffrey
Geoffrey joined our team in early 2019, but did work off and on for us prior to that. He baptized as a new believer in Jesus last year also, and took the Christian name Joshua. Joshua, his wife, Dorcas, and his young son live on the Exodus Projects property. He is a hard worker and has a strong enthusiasm for his work and for the Exodus vision.
Sharon
Sharon lives in Karuma and carries the responsibility of providing support and care for her aging mother. Sharon has done a great job at grasping the skills and understanding of many of our construction processes and is a great asset to our team.
Jemma
Jemma has been with us for almost 2 years now. She is an intelligent young woman who has done an outstanding job learning various parts of our construction process. She’s worked hard at advancing in her education and desires to eventually manage her own small business.
Esther
Esther, a single mother of two young boys, is one of the first women from Karuma to join the Exodus team. She has been a strong example of diligence and faithfulness. She has also provided much needed assistance to Topista and has demonstrated strong leadership influence on the team as a whole, but especially on the women who have joined us in more recent months. Esther will soon be launching her own tailoring business in Karuma, but we hope accommodate her continued involvement in the Exodus Project.
Raymond Tabula
Ray is one of our founding team members. He is from southwest Uganda, but has lived in the Karuma area for several years. When we first met Ray he quickly aligned himself with us and with the vision God had given us and initially volunteered his services as part of the team. He is now one of our most enthusiastic cheer leaders and manages the housing unit that was recently donated to Exodus Projects.
